FORTY PLANES IN MASS RAID ON FUKIEN CITY: OVER 200 KILLED
Canton, To-day.
Owing to a breakdown of telephonic communica- tions with Changchow in Fukien, it was only learned by the authorities here yesterday that on Sunday a mass air-raid occurred over Changchow.
Over 40 Japanese planes cruised over the city for three hours in the afternoon dropping their bombs wherever they wished. Many buildings have been demolished and the casualty list has amounted to over 200 killed.
This is the first time that the Japanese have staged such a large-scale attack on any town in Fukien from the air.
The planes are alleged to have come from the Japanese base on Kimmin Island opposite Amoy.
