MR MACKENZIE KING'S EULOGY OF KING GEORGE AND QUEEN ELIZABETH

Praise was showered upon the King and Queen by Mr. Mackenzie King, the Prime Minister, who made a broadcast address with a Canadawide link- up from Ottawa to-day.

It was Mr. Mackenzie King's-first important public pronouncement since his return from the Corona- tion ceremonies and the subsequent Imperial Conference, and he made an important. statement regarding Canada's position in the event that Britain became involved in war.

At the outset, the Premier said he felt that in the hundred years that had elapsed since, the accession of Queen Victoria to the Throne of England, the great responsibilities of the British Monarchy had never been more worthily or more secure- ly entrusted to any sovereign than to-day.
