A FORMIDABLE SCOTTISH RECORD.
RING AS PRESENT.
9 having disrespectfully towards the Captain, while complaining of
their food, are quite untrue- Reuter.
[The above evidently refers to pre- vious reports received in Hong Kong to the effect that a number of men from the Revenge had not returned
after going on shore leave, also alleg edly showing disrespect
to the
Captain, the trouble boing put down to dissatisfaction with the food on the ship.
HMS. Revenge is a battleship of 1226,350 tona, and is the flagship of the First Battle Squadron (under command
the Mediterranean Fleet.
It is of special interest to Hong
1 Kong to note that Vice Admiral Kelly,
Miss Violet Anderson, the Dunoon swimmer, for the second time within a month, established a formidable Scottish record when she covered the 15 miles course between Rothesay and the Castle Rocks, Dunoon, in 8 hours 11 minutes.
Three weeks ago Miss Anderson emulated Miss Mercedes Gleitze by swimming from Kinghorn to Gul- fane. Incidentally, the Scots girl's time was full three hours within the record time. Her swim was a chapter of stoicism from beginning to end.
