KID MCCOY'S LESSON TO FRENCH BOXER

A PUGILIST FILM STAR

THE GREAT MASTER-KIDDER'S CAREER,

Tommy Ryan, writes J. S. Bar. ron in The Evening News, harbour- ed queer thoughts as Kid M'Coy, no longer a sparring partner, but

challenger for Ryan's serious title, boxed brilliantly before the members and friends of the Maspath Club. "Come on, Tommy, a few we'll give 'em value for rounds, whispered the Kid in Ryan's ears in one of the early plinches. Ryan fell for that and aniled in to make a brave show, but hard as he hit, M'Coy hit Ryan harder still, and soon had blowing freely.

The crowd could not grasp the situation, for they had actually thinking that paid their money Ryan would toy with his opponent for a few rounds then "out" him.

Terrific Punch.

At the eighth round M'Coy could have won with a punch, but he recalled his experience as a spar- ring partner. and kept Ryan dazed without actually putting him out. In the tenth round the referee ask- ed Ryan if he would stop the fight. Ryan didn't reply. Up he came again and again for his licks. 'Coy now whispered---"Remem- her yon time you wouldn't carry me along to see you fight after I was your sparring partner?" But Ryan was now, too much worried to reply. At the end of the four- teenth round Ryan looked pathetic title-holder, while M'Coy was boxing easily and breathing smoothly.

1

In the fifteenth the Kid leapt to the centre, dazzled Ryan with feinting fists, then, releasing gunpowder shot with terrific force, he landed squarely on the point of the chin, and Ryan, foll to bo counted out. The referee named M'Coy champion.

Prior to the signing of articles, M'Coy cashed American drafts and had on his person several hundreds of thousands of franca.
