scheduled bus departures per day were
unable to operate due to the buses being
prevented from arriving at their terminus
in time to make the next scheduled trip.¬
For the 35 most affected routes
(generally in Kowloon and the New
Territories urban areas) traffic
congestion has, on average, doubled the
peak hour journey time.
To
combat
traffic congestion,
the
Company has compiled lists of traffic congestion black spots and continued to make strenuous representations to the
Government for firm action to be taken
to improve Hong Kong's traffic flow.
The Company and various Government
bodies have been able to work together
to plan progressive measures to deal with
the notorious traffic conditions in the
Kwai Chung Container Port Area and
along the Tuen Mun-Yuen
Highway. The short-term

which were devised have led to a slight,
but
temporary,
improvement in
traffic flow at these locations.

the Government will be able to keep up
its momentum and speedily implement

交通擠塞
交通擠塞對本公司服務的可靠性仍然存
有不利的影響。於一九九三年,因路面
工程及交通擠塞而引致的班次延誤約增
加了百分之十八。這表示每天約有一千
零三十班巴士不能如期開出,皆因巴士
受到阻礙,無法及時到達總站,至今下
一班次無法開出。在繁忙時間中,交通
擠塞令三十五條最受影響的路線(通常
在九龍及新界市區)的行程所需時間平
均增加了一倍。
爲應付交通擠塞,本公司已編制了交通
擠塞黑點的名單並繼續向政府極力要求
採取果斷的行動,以改善香港的交通流
量。本公司及多個政府機關一起計劃改
善措施,試圖改善葵涌貨櫃碼頭區及屯
門至元朗公路沿綫擠塞黑點的交通情
況,這些短期措施對此等地點的交通流
量有輕微但短暫的改善。
由於新界西的乘客及貨運活動不斷增
加,此亦對道路網絡有新的需求,本公 司希望政府能夠加緊工作,盡快實施有
