The continuing development of new

towns, with the concomitant shift in

population from the older urban areas to

the newer developments, provided the

Company with opportunities to expand

its services in recent years. The major

areas of development were Lam Tin

South, Tseung Kwan O, Ma On Shan,

Tin Shui Wai and the Kwai Chung

redevelopment zone as well as private

developments along Castle Peak Road.

The Company believes that there will

continue to be some scope for expansion

within Hong Kong, particularly in

connection with the new airport.

However with increasing competition

among different public transport modes

and other factors (such as the growing affluence of the population and the

changing social and political climate),

the Company's future profit growth from its franchised bus operation will be

increasingly difficult to sustain and

dependent on qualitative improvements

to its services. This is particularly so

since the Profit Control Scheme appears to have been increasingly disregarded

展服務。主要發展地區為藍田南,將軍

澳、馬鞍山、天水圍、葵涌重建區及青

山公路沿綫的私人發展樓宇項目。本公

司相信在香港會繼續有拓展機會,特別

是接連新機場的路綫。另一方面,由於

各種不同公共交通工具的競爭日趨激烈

及其他因素(如人口的漸趨富裕及改變

中的社會及政治環境 ),保持本公司經

營專利巴士之盈利增長將越趨困難,並

有賴服務質素的改善。
