(i) be constructed of hardwood or some fire resisting

material, and

(ii) have no opening therein; provided that any such partition in a building where only the quantities of exempted liquid mentioned in regulation 6 (b) (i) and (ii) are kept may be provided with a self-closing door, which shall be structed of fire resisting material and shall not give direct access to any dwellinghouse or workroom.

318. Not more than one hundred gallons of exempted liquid shall be kept at the same time in any storage place, and in computing for the purposes of this regulation the amount kept in any one storage place—

(1) any exempted liquid contained in the fuel tank of, or otherwise carried on any motor vehicle, motor boat, aircraft or engine for the time being within the storage place shall be deemed to be kept in the storage place; and

(2) any two storage places not more than twenty feet apart, in the occupation of the same person, shall be deemed to be one storage place.

319. Every reasonable precaution shall be taken at every storage place to prevent the ignition of inflammable vapour by any fire or artificial light.

320. No operation involving the exposure of exempted liquid to the air shall be carried on in the neighbourhood of any fire or artificial light capable of igniting inflammable

vapour.

321. Subject as hereinafter provided, no exempted liquid shall be used in any storage place otherwise than-

(a) as fuel for a motor vehicle, motor boat, aircraft or engine,

(b) as fuel for any lamp or other apparatus used for the purpose of lighting or heating, so constructed and maintained in such condition as not to be liable to ignite inflammable vapour otherwise than as fuel, or

(c) in quantities not exceeding at any one time half pint, for cleaning or as a solvent for repair purposes.

322. No person shall wilfully or negligently cause or permit any exempted liquid to enter any sewer or any drain communicating with a Government sewer.

PART XIX.-STORAGE OF INFLAMMABLE LIQUIDS IN PUBLIC GARAGES AND GARAGES CAPABLE OF ACCOMMODATING MORE THAN 10 MOTOR VEHICLES.

323.-(1) Part XVIII of these regulations shall apply, so far as they may be applicable, to the storage of inflammable liquids in--

(a) public garages, and

(b) garages capable of accommodating more than ten motor vehicles.
