East elevation

The building mainly consists of two parts

a three-storey block and a two-storey restaurant tower rising from the roof of the lower block. The restaurant tower is connected to the lower block by two massive legs which accommodate staircases, lifts and ser- vice ducts. The elevated position of the restaurant enables visitors to ob- serve not only the busy city harbour scenes, but also the quiet countryside and the broad reaches of the South China Sea to the south of Hong Kong Island.

Feeling of symmetry

Though the site is irregular, due to its structural expression, the building has a feeling of symmetry. The window. arrangement, designed to make the best of the spectacular views, gives a strong horizontal accent. The window will be of tinted glass to allow glare- free viewing from inside.

Public entry will be from the ground floor which contains a public lookout, post office, kiosk and entry to the Peak Tram. The basement which will have a total floor area of 5,700 sq.
