NEW FLYOVER READY IN 16 MONTHS
ORK is well under way on the
first stage of a 1681 foot long flyover connecting Nairn and Waterloo roads at one of the busiest junctions in Kowloon.
The first stage mainly involves the construction of the piled foundation for the piers to carry the elevated roadway.

Work on the second stage construction of the superstructure and ancillary road works will start in January. The whole project is ex- pected to be completed in about April, 1966.
The flyover, which forms part of the new road system between Tsim Sha Tsui to Sha Tin through Lion Rock tunnel, will extend over the roundabout at the junction of Nairn and Waterloo roads and Argyle Street.
The flyover is the first of its kind to be constructed in Kowloon and will extend from a point at the Faith Hope Nursery in Nairn Road to a point opposite Nos. 98 and 100 Waterloo Road.
The elevated roadway will have a 33 feet wide three-lane carriageway. The middle lane will be reversible on a "tidal" arrangement, permitting two lanes of traffic in any one direction at times of peak flow.
The flyover will have a maximum height of 30 feet above the existing road levels giving a clearance under the elevated roadway of 22} feet at the junction of Nairn Road and Perth Street and 22 feet and 174 feet at the roundabout of Nairn Road. wall construction with selected inflll.
