Work has begun on a nine-storey apartment building to stand on I.L. 1624 in Conduit Road and overlook the harbour. Total estimated cost of the block, including surfacing of an approach road, is $2,600,000.
Plans for the reinforced concrete frame building, which will be con- structed to the design of Harriman Realty for Zimmerns Ltd., incorporate structural cross walls to overcome wind stresses.
Accommodation comprises one-bed- room apartments for bachelors on floor one (above a car port); three and two-bedroom apartments, six to 3 floor, on floors two to seven; and five penthouses in duplex form on floors eight and nine.
