DOOR CLOSER Quick Acting Unit is Sealed Against Dust

THE Gibraltar door closer, which may be easily fitted to most doors, is spring-loaded, silent and quick acting. It is a sealed device, particularly suitable for use where dust concen- tration is high.

One end of an arm, 5in. long, is fitted into one of five holes in a boss in the centre of the device. The other

end of the arm has two plastic rollers which run along a transparent plate The tacked or glued to the door. tension is easily adjusted by placing the arm in another hole of the boss. Further information is available from the manufacturers, Gibraltar Products Ltd., Wheathampstead, Herts.. U.K.

SEALING COMPOUND

Cures and Seals Concrete in One Application

MASTERSEAL is a new compound that both cures and seals concrete surfaces in one application. With a water retention rate of 450 sq. ft. per gallon, it develops high concrete strengths.

It is compatible with many floor covering adhesives and need not be removed to set tiles. The compound reduces dusting by sealing the surface, dries colourless and is easy to apply by brush or roller.

STEEL BUILDINGS

Low Pitched, Single Span Structures

DESIGNATED the PR Portal, a new steel building developed by Sanders and Forster Ltd., Warton Road, London, E.15, offers a low pitched, single span structure in place of the conventional multi-span type of in- dustrial buildings.

Crane bays and gantries can be designed into the PR portal to specific requirements and exterior cantilever- ed canopies can be supplied. form of cladding, door window or roof lighting can be used with the

structure.

All the hot rolled sections are shot blasted and

with spray painted Metaclad primer, while the purlins

and side rails are of galvanised finish. The illustrations shows an arrange- ment providing a cantilevered canopy to the side of a structure and a typical arrangement for incorporating

STAIR TREADS

Made from Resilient Wear-resistant Vinyl

FRICTION GRIP stair treads have a nosing and tread design which consists of closely spaced pyramidal points. A double row of grippers on the tread affords protection where there is maximum wear and potential danger.

The corrugations run full depth and have no dust collecting crevices. The nosing needs no metal strips.

Made of resilient, wear-resistant

Mercer stair treads

vinyl, both the tread and nosing are available in several colours.

PRESTRESSING SYSTEM

British Unit Stresses All Strands at Once

ALL strands are pulled at once by a new prestressing system developed by Cable Covers Ltd., St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.

Each strand is anchored by a CCL compression grip, swaged on to the strand either in the factory or on site. The grip consists of an internal har- dened steel gripping sleeve and an Com- outer tube of swaging steel. pression has the effect of reducing the diameter and elongating the grip, forming a positive termination.

The threaded anchor disc, of high quality steel, has the required number of holes to take the strands and to locate the compression grips. A large central threaded hole is provided to accommodate the pulling bar during stressing and to receive the threaded grout inlet after stressing.

Multiforce compression anchorage

A locking ring, designed to be threaded home by a mechanical nut runner during stressing, is produced in the same steel and is always in con- tact with the face of the casting dur- ing the later stages of stressing.

Design of the casting gives maxi- mum force distribution effect into the concrete, and also seats the jack nose and

nut mechanical

runner. The length of tube behind the front face reinforces the large duct hole in the concrete over the length of maximum tensile concrete stress. Provision is made to accept the anchor ducting.

DUCT DAMPER

Maintains a Uniform Air Flow

THE RCM Iris duct damper pro- vides a quick and efficient means of balancing duct air volumes and, due to a reducing orifice arrangement, maintains a uniform air flow over the cross section of the duct.

The mechanism is housed in an in- tegral casing and presents a sturdy construction which

can be fitted to both rigid and flexible round ducts, Connection to square ducts is also possible with a transformation piece.

RCM Iris

All blades are manufactured from laminated plastic, pivoted in non-ferrous pins. The cas- ing and all other ferrous components are plated to prevent corrosion. Sizes range from 4 in. to 18 in. diameter in 2 in. increments.
