Compact Hydraulic Machine with 360-degree Swing

LINK-BELT SPEEDER. Cedar Rapids, lowa, USA, have introduced a new 18,000 lb. capacity all-hydraulic yard crane, the YC-18.

A compact unit for working in confined areas, the crane has a short 8ft. 6in. wheelbase and a 17 ft. turn-

ing radius. Tail swing is 50 in., overall height 9ft. 1⁄2 in. and minimum horizontal reach 12ft. 5in.

Powered by a Chrysler V-8 petrol engine with torque coverter, it has a maximum road speed of 48 m.p.h. Power shift for high low range plus a four-speed transmission gives

total of eight speeds. Four hydraulic outriggers can be set in 22 seconds.

Other features of the YC-18 are: 360-degree swing at 4.2 r.p.m.; boom topping speed to 75 degrees in 10.8 seconds; boom retract speed of 160 f.p.m.; and maximum line speed of 200 f.p.m.

It incorporates variable amplitude and is powered by a 36 h.p. diesel engine. Static weight with water ballast is 7 tons and the vibrating roll width is 521⁄2 in.

The roller is equipped with three- speed forward and reverse transmis- sion with single lever control. the three speeds being 7, 2 and 4 m.p.h.

A feature of the machine is its high ground clearance which enables it to roll flush up to kerbs. Hydraulic steering is standard. The unit, able to climb hills of 1 in 5, is fitted with a large capacity water tank with spray bars and spring loaded scrapers.

There are dual seats and dual steering columns for left or right handed drive to suit the operator, who is housed in a weatherproof сапору.

EARTH BORER

Self-contained Unit for Site Investigation

THE Model 3CCHD Ebco earth boring machine is designed as a rotary borer and percussion rig with full power for either work. It is suitable for site investigation or small quantity short bore piling.

With a capacity of 150 ft. by per- cussion and over 80 ft. by augers, it will put down an 18in. hole to 15ft. depth, yet the equipment when mounted on its trailer can be towed by a small van and handled on site by two men.

Called the DOP 10, the unit has few moving parts, making it suitable for pumping liquids containing sludge or solid impurities. Only two rubber diaphragms and the non-return valves are in direct contact with the liquid being pumped, and wear on these parts is reduced by the use of special- ly resistant material.

The pump is fully submersible and can be provided with a suction hose for use in restricted passages such as shafts. It can be handled by one man
