The 2 additional Assessor posts and certain of the clerical staff are required to cope with con- tinued increase in the work of the Stamp Duty Office and to allow for the proposed opening of a Kowloon Office. The remaining new clerical posts are required to deal with the increased volume of work of the Department generally, in particular in the Salaries and Personal Tax Sections and the Business Registration Office. 4 additional Inspectors are required to replace 2 officers previously seconded to the Department and to cope with the increasing amount of inspection work.
