reference book will tell you that the island of Hong Kong, before its development by the British, was a desolate unhealthy swamp, inhabited by a handful of fever-ridden natives. The British built a fine modern city there, in which hundreds of thousands of Chinese found homes, work and health.

When Japan is defeated, what is it you suggest be "returned".

There was never a city of Hong Kong in the Chinese Empire or the Chinese Republic.

I do not by any means seek to justify all imperialistic acts in the East. But there are two sides to the story and Americans listen to and repeat but one".
