Enclose copies of correspondence and Court of Enquiry relating to an injury sustained by Private S. Lant of the Durham Light Infantry, at Peking, and state that War Office do not consider this a case in which any claim should be made against the Japanese Government for hospital or other expenses arising in consequence of the incident. If Foreign Office concur suggest that Embassy at Peking be informed and asked to thank Japanese for their offer to contribute

towards medical expenses.
