agreement as above-mentioned between the town council and the A.D. 1886. county council may provide in lieu of the discontinuance of such exemption, for the extension of such exemption to the whole area of the borough, and may provide for the same in any of the modes 5 above-mentioned, but subject to such agreement the contribution from such borough shall continue in like manner as if this Act had not passed.

For the purposes of this Act, counties of cities and counties of towns to which this section applies, shall be deemed to form part 10 of the county of which they form part, for the purpose of the election of members to serve in Parliament; and if they do not form part of any county for the said purpose theu of the county. which they adjoin, or if they adjoin more than one county of the county with which they have the longest common boundary.

29. Where a borough having a separate court of quarter sessions Application contained according to the census of one thousand eight hundred of Aot to and eighty-one a population of less than twenty thousand, the boroughs, following provisions shall apply :---
(a.) The hereditaments in such borough shall after the appointed day be liable to be assessed to the county rate of the county in which such hereditaments are situate and the area of the borough shall be subject to the authority of the county council and coroners of that county in like manner sa if such borough had not a separate court of quarter sessions :
(b.) The council of the borough shall cease to appoint a coroner and to have any power or authority under the Acts relating to-
(i.) lunatic asylums; and
(ii.) slaughterhouses; and
(iii.) reformatory or industrial schools; and
(iv.) food and drugs;
(v.) contagious diseases (animals);
(vi.) destructive insects;
(vii.) fish conservancy;

(viii.) weights and measures;

(ix.) gas meters;
(x.) explosives;
subject nevertheless to the provisions contained in this Act for the protection of existing officers:
(c.) All jurisdiction of the quarter sessions of the borough or of the justices out of sessions of the borough which in the case of the quarter sessions of the county and the justices out of sessions of the county, are by this Act transferred to the
