county council, shall also be transferred to and vested in the county council, subject nevertheless to the provisions of this Act relating to the exercise of such powers.

(d.) All expenses connected with the clerk of the pesos, clerk of

the justices, the provision of a court or rooms and offices for 5 the recorder and justices, and the execution of the above Acts shall be defrayed out of the county fund :

(e.) In enactments relating to the appointment and fixing of the salaries or fees of the clerk of the peace or clerk of the justions

county council shall be deemed to be substituted for town 10 council :

(f) A read in such borough which, if it were not a borough with a separate court of quarter sessions, might be declared to be a main road under the Highways Locomotives Act, 1877, may be declared to be a main road:

(g.) The county council may annex the area of the borough to a

coroner's district of the county:

(h.) For the purposes of the election of county councillors the borough shall form part of the petty sessional division which it adjoins, or if it adjoins more than one petty sessional division, 20 of the division with which it has the longest common boundary : (i.) For the purposes of this section any borough which is

county of a city or a county of a town shall be deemed to be situated in the county of which it forms part for the purpose of parliamentary elections:

(j.) The county council and the town council of any such borough may make agreements for the purpose of adjusting any property, income, debts, liabilities and expenses, so far as affected by this section, of the parties to the agreement, and such agreement may provide for the transfer or retention of 80 any property, debts, and liabilities, with or without any con- ditions, and for the joint use of any property, and for payment to either party to the agreement in respect of property, debts, and liabilities so transferred or retained or of such joint user, and in respect of the salary, remuneration, or compensation 85 payable to any officer or person.

(k.) In case of any inability to agree upon any matter requiring adjustment for the purpose of this section, the Secretary of State on the application of either party may by order make the adjustment, and such order shall have the same effect 40 as an agreement under this Act, and may provide for anything for which the agreement may provide.
