20. All books, documents, and papers in the possession of the Tr office of land registry or of any person attached to or performing 5 any ministerial duty in aid of such office, shall be dealt with in such manner as the Lord Chancellor may by order direct, and any person failing to comply with any order of the Lord Chancellor made for the purpose of giving effect to this section, shall be punished in the same manner as if he had been guilty of 10 contempt of the High Court of Justice.

21. Where any transfer on the register is made of any land to purchaser for valuable consideration in pursuance of a forged authority, any person deprived of such land by means of such transfer of 15 may apply to the High Court of Justice, and the High Court of forgery.
Justice shall adopt whichever of the two following courses it, having regard to the special circumstances of the case, deams to be most conducive to justice, that is to say, it shall either direct the land to be restored to the proprietor who has been deprived thereof by the 30 forgery, and declare the transferee of such land to be entitled to compensation, or it shall direct the transferee to remain in undie- turbed possession of the land, and declare such proprietor as aforesaid to be entitled to compensation, and any compensation awarded under this section shall be payable out of the Consolidated Fund.

22. 28. name of the Land Transfer Board.
24. Whenever, upon the hearing of any such application as afore. Try to said, it appears to the High Court of Justios that the applicant is 40 entitled to compensation out of the Consolidated Fund, the court
