HONGKONG SHARE QUOTATIONS,
HONGKONG, 4th June, 1909.-There has ben a continued fair demand for stocks during the week and rates have ruled firm, business how. ever continues more or less restricted by the unwillingness of holders to meet the market. Exchange on London closes at 1/9/5/16. T.T. and on Shanghai at 741.

BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais. the early part of the week the London rate came stronger at £91,10, and our market immediately responded with a rise of $5 to 985, at which rate some few shares changed hands, and later some small sales were made at 99, while the London rate was reported 10 lower at £91. The market closes with buyers at 985. Nationals remain unchanged and without business.
MARINE INSURANCE.-With the exception of Cantons which have declined to 195 we have nothing to report under this heading, the mar- ket having ruled quite inactive.
FIRE INSURANCES.-China Fires continue in demand at 110 but we heard of no sales, nd buyers rule the market at time of closing. Hongkongs have been placed at $345 and closa steady at that rate.
SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos are still enquired for but holders refuse to part to any extent and purchasers seem disinclined to raise the rate, a few shares have changed hands at 32 and 324. Indo-Chinas have ruled erratic and but few shares have changed hands locally at quotations. Shells have improved to 61/ on a rise on the London market to 62/ fəṛ name shares. Star Ferrys have been placed at 27 for old and 16 for new shares cum the divid- end paid on the 3rd inst. China Manilas continue with sellers at 11 and no sales to report. Douglases are neglected at 36.

| rate Internationals have fallen to 85, Laou Kung Mows to 105 and Soy Chees to 390. Hongkongs remain on offer at 8§.
REFINERIES.-China Sugars have weakened without business to 142), closing with sellers at that rate. Perak Sugars bave been sold to the North at 270,280, 285 and 290, closing firm at last rate. Lugons unchanged and without | business.
MINING.-Raubs after sales at 91, 94 and 94 cirse quieter with sellers at 9.30. Charbon- *ges remain unchanged and without business. Chinese Engineerings have advanced to 18 with buyers in the North.
DOCKS, WHARves and GodOWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Docks have weakened somewhat, and after some further small sales at 68 and 67 are on offer at the latter rafe. Kowloon Wharfa have been the medium of a fair business at 59, and the market close firm with further buyers at that rate. Shanghai Docks remain unchanged, but the latest gunța- tion from the North give the rate as a Belling one. Hongkew Wharfs bave dropped in the North to 160, but there are buyers at that rate and shares are difficult to get.
LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS. Hong- kong Lands with a continued demand have further improved to 110 after sales at 109, 1091 and 110, the market closing with burers at the highest rate. West Points bave been placed at 46. and close with sellers. Hotels have found buyers of the new issue at 40 while the old is on offer at 71. Humphreys have advanced to 91, after some small sales at 94 and at higher rate. Kowloon Lands have changed hands at 301. and more are wanted at the latter rate. COTTON MILLS-Ewo have declined in the North to 120, but shares are in request at that
MISCELLANEOUS.-China Borneos with an unsatisfied demand at 131 have improved to 13 with sales at time of closing. Chius Provs have found buyers at 94 and 91. Cements after sales at 8.80 close firmer at 8.90 bayers. Electrics have been placed at 19 and close in further request. Old Peak Trams have found farther buyers at 13.20. ex dividend paid on the 29 May. Ropes, Union Water Bosts, and Dairy Farms could be placed at quotations but no shares appear to be available, China Lights bave changed bands at rates between 63 and 71 cios- ing with sellers at the later rate.
