LANDS, HOTELs and Buildings.-The only business to report in the section is a small sale of Humphreys' Estates at 894. | Other quota- tions are unchanged.

COTTON MILLS.-E wos have declined to Tis. 58 and Internationals to Tls. 62. Hong- kongs are steady but without reported busiLess at $11.

MISCELLANEOUS, Dairy Farms have been bocked at $20 and are wanted, Cements hare been the medium of a fair businese at $10, and more shares can probably be placed at the rate. Electrics have improved to $18, and Ropes to $25, both with buyers. China Providents con- tinue in request at $91, but no shares are procurable under 89)·

HONGKONG SHARE QUOTATIONS.

HONGKONG, 18th September, 1908. - The improved demand for investment purposes re- ported in our last has continued throughout the past week, and the comparatively small amount of actual business transacted daring the interval is still accounted for current rates. In many cases rates show an improvement on values last reported, and the market generally closes firm. Barsilver in London is to-day quoted at 24fd.. and sterling T.T. at 1/91. The T.T. rate on Shanghai is unchanged at 754.

BANKS. — Hongkong and Shanghais have been in much favour, and a considerable busi- ness has been booked at $770 and $7724, the market olging with small buyers at the former ra'e. London is unchanged during the intervals at £80. Nationals continue in request at £510

MARINE INSURANCES. Unions have advanced under an unsatisfied demand, and | after sales at $760 and $765 can probably be placed now at 8770. China Traders and Yougiszes are unchanged, but North China have improved locally to Tis. 82 buyers. Cantons remain on offer at $215.

FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkong have been done at the improved rate of $320, and more shares can be placed. Chinas after a sale from the North at $93 are wanted to a small extent at $994.

SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos are reported at 8281 and $284, market closing firm with buyers at the higher rate. Star Ferries (now) have been booked at $15, and Shell Transports at the advanced rate of 458. There are sellers of Douglases at $37.

REFINARIES, Quotations are unchanged and there is no business to report.

MINING.-Raubs have been booked at $74 at which there are further sellers. Chinese Eng- ineerings are in request at Tls. 164.

DOCKS, WHARVES AND GODOWNS.-Hong kong and Whampoa Dooks are weak with sellers at $96; aud Shanghai Docks at Tia. 84 in the north. Hongkong & Kowloon Godowns have again been done at $49, and are wanted. There are sellers in the North of Hongkow Wharves at Tla, 165,
