Jubilee Rose and Palm Tree were running side by side, and six lengths separated them from the leaders as the field entered the straight for the first time riding comparatively easy. As the post was passed for the first time the field drew closer together, Mohawk Chief leading with Grey Tick second U and Kirkwood third. Palm Tree and the Rose still kept together while Rubber Tree tailed the field. Jubilee Rose fell to the rear as the football stand was neared, being about a length behind Rubber Tree. Ha 8009 got on level terms with the latter, however, and as the field ascend-d the incl ne, Grey Tick drew in'n second place, Mohawk Chief bing half a length behind him, while Kirkword was fully two lengths to the rear of the latter. Juhilea Rose and Palm Tree were still level at black rock and at the rear of the field, Mohawk Chief leading Grey Tick by three lengths while Kir wood was at least two and a half lengths behind the latter. As the straigth was entered Palm Tree, coming up on the cutside, drew level with Kirkwood, and the was between these two and the Chief. This was the order until the village was passed, when Nutmeg Tree, who was running farth with Eglington, began to make his way to the front. As the straight was entered he drew olose Homocea and Lancaster Rose, beating the Rose. for second place, but being unable to overhaul, Homocea. Time-1 min 16/2-5 reor.
