Falls From Cliff
The holiday camp of the 4th. Kow- loon Troops (Garrison) Boy Scouts at Cheungchuu over the Easter holi- days ended tragically yesterday when their Scoutmaster, L/Cpl. H.. R. Middlesex Thorne, of the 1st. Regiment, tell to his death over sixty-tool elift.

The accident occurred about 8.30 a.m. when, in seating the cliff, L/Cpl. Thorne slipped and fell backwards. Assistance
forthcoming im- metllutely and the injured man was rushed to the Cheungchau Hospital, where, despite all eforts to save him, he died at 12.30 p.m. A launch which was speeded to carry Mr. Thorne to Hongkong arrived just too inte.
The Camp was scheduled for seven days, ending to-morrow, but it was brokon yesterday, and the Troop and Mr. Wade, Assistant Scoutmaster, re- turned to Hongkong at 5 p.m.

Mr. Thorne was 23 years of and had been interested in Scouting for several years. Since his arrival in the Colony 18 months ago, he had been Scoutmaster of the 4th. Kow- loon Troop.
