DAYTIME FASHIONS Frankly Feminine

FEMININITY is to be the keynote

of 1939 spring fashions to judge from the houses which showed their collections recently,

success-

To wear the new styles fully, you must have a well-rounded bustline, slim waist and stender hips. You must have neat legs also, for kirts are shorter,

But to balance this note

of ab- breviation, they are wide at the hem, which makes them easier to wear than those which are very short and very tight as well.

Tailors have shown themselves adepts at making even striped and checked suits look feminine by work- ing them in different ways.

There was even a feminine note -nbout a divided skirt sull-skirt was grey-you'd hardly tell it was divid- ed, blouse top was pale yellow and it was worn with a full-length circular cloak, also in yellow.

Some cleverly-cut skirts are shaped Just lite umbrellas, the ribs being in- dicated by vertical' tucks.

Yellow is to be a favourite colour for summer woollens.

Original detail on a long cloth redingote in yellow was a. Jurge square hip pocket in beaver fur.

Collars for daytime frocks are very high. Silhouette has been described as that of naughty ninety-six-year- olds.
