The rebuilding of Quetta, laid waste by the earthquake of May 31, with the loss of 30,000 lives, will probably cost about £6,000,- 000.

This is the estimate given here. But it is emphasised that an accu- ràto figure cannot yet be given.

The Reconstruction Committee has now completed. Its report. It is belloved that it recommends the rebuilding of the military base, with earthquake-proof buildings. The extra cost of making the buildings earthquake-proof will be offset by the use of lighter and cheaper materials,

In this case London has been more enterprising than Hollywood, since the new British company, Capitol Films, has acquired the rights of "I Pagliacci," In which Richard Tauber is to be starred.

The price paid for these rights has not been disclosed, but it is believed to be approximately £18,000.
