NEW SHIP ARRIVES.
N.Y.K. ENTERTAINS LOCAL SHIPPING FRATERNITY Yesterday afternoon the Nippon Yuson Kafsha entert ined numerous well-wishers for the success of the now motor ship Nogara Maru at her mooring in the stream. The ship was thrown open to Inspection at 3.30 p.. and launches took the visitors But to the craft.
There was much to see aboard the Nagara, particularly the grand scale on which accommodation for the crow and officers had been artangod, Contrary to the usual practice, in which the sailors and engine room crew are housed in the forecastle and poop, the new vessol accommodatos her lower-deck crew amidships. The quarters provided aro. on A acale equalling the ordinary 2nd class paksenger accommodation. of most largo liners.
Many now fentures,
such as thwartship aliding hatelies, have been incorporated in the design of the vessel, and it is certain that she will become an efficient unit of the N.Y.K.' Orient-New York fleet.
