Shanghai, Feb; 2. A squabble between a Chinese soldier and a mafoo at the Kinng- wan races developed into what was almost a riot.
The mafoo struck the soldier in 'the face, and the latter fired in the. air, which attracted other soldiers. Race officials intervened, and pre- vented the affair-assuming graver dimensions. The races, however, were delayed half an hour.
Four men were arrested, being later released.
