DEFENCE PLEADS CHILD WAS ADOPTED.
A caso brought under the Female Domestle Service Ordin apce, which under Section 4, pro- hibits the employment of mui teai came before Mr. T. M. Hazlerigg at the Central Polico Court yester day afternoon.
The defendants were: Wong Yuong-ahi, of No. 49, Elgin Street, who was charged with taking into her employment a7-year-old gir] ns a mui teni.
Wong Kin-kal, her son, who is charged with assaulting the girl,

Li Wong-shi, a married woman, who is charged with taking the girl into her employment and with transferring her to the other woman, Wong Yeung-shi,

The Grat witness called was De. T. Ware, of the Government Civil Hospital who testifled to the results of an examination he made of the girl upon her being sent to him by the Secretariat for Chinese Afairs, on August 20,
