the Silver Anniversary models Buick has recognized the important part which riding comfort, a term relatively unknown until a few years ago, plays in owner satisfaction.

Here are a few of the seventeen new factors that make the 1929 Buick the most comfortable car we have ever offered.

FUEL FRAUDS,

Adulterated Gasoline Sold in U.S.

RESULT OF SURVEY.

A "gasolino 'rackel" that may prove to exist nationally has been disclosed by the Cloveland Autorio- bile Club from a survey it made of) the types of fuel sold in this area.

The survey shows that much adul- terated gasoline is being sold to mo torists under various guises and that at the back of the attraction of lower prices lie greater profits duo to the mixture of Infaríor oils with the gasoline.

This situation was revealed by tho nulo club after It had been led to make the survey and analyze some 49 different brands of gaso- line sold in the Cleveland area, upon complaints made by motorista and dealera.

"The reason at the back of this adultoration is two-fold," saya Mr. Fred H. Caley, secretary of the Cleveland Auto Club.

Cheat Fuel Tax.

"One is to cheapen a product, so that it may be sold under a price that reputable firma, selling an hon- est product, are compelled to charge.

"The second is that adulteration of gasoline permits the sale of a product upon which partial pay- ment of the state gasoline tax of three cents a gallon miny bo ovaded.

"The 'racket' worka pretty much In this fashion:

"A certain quantity of gasoline in purchased-100 gallons, for n- stance. On this purchase the state) gasoline tax of three cents per gal- lon is paid.

"A quantity of kerosene then is purchased, but on this no tax is re- quired.

Make Double Proft.

"Then, by mixing with the 100 gallons of gasoline about 30 gallons of kerosene, 130 gallons of alleged motor fuel are produced. These 130 gallons are sold to the motor- ine public, who pay the full tax on each of the 130 gallons of alleg- ed gasoline.

"Hence, adherents to the prac tice of adulterating gasoline not only defraud the slate but also the unsuspecting motoriste."

The answer to this situation, ac-. cording to Mr. Caley; is legislation that will halt the sale of such products. The Cleveland Automo- -bllo Club to going to use its in- fluence toward the passage of auch a law in Ohio.

The Development of the Firestone Balloon Tyre Tread is a noteworthy example of how Firestone engineers insist upon knowing all the facts con- coring the Firestone products. In the special test machine shown above the tyre is pressed at normal load against an observation window." In this way Firestone engineers "look through the ground," in offcct, to make studies of tread action; as it actually occurs. They see exactly what your tyres do when rolling over the ground, and can thus accurately provide the tread which insures utmost wear résistance and safety.

It will pay you to accept the recommendations of Firestone engineers. Let us fit your car with a new set of Gum- Dipped Balloon Tyres.
