Diesel-Engined Motor Lighter.
An ordor has been received by the Dan Marine Motor and Ship building Company, Limited, for
steel coasting motor lighter to have a dead-weight capacity, of 200 tons on a draught of 8 ft. The vessel, which will be kethh rigged with auxiliary sails, will measure 93 ft. over-all, with a beam of 20 ft., and in to be driven at eight knots by a Kind re- versible Diesel engine of 100 b.h.p. The engine-room is placed nft between the hold and the ollicers' quartora. The engine has four cylinders working on the two-stroke principle, with Boavenging air supplied through Lwo alightly inclined valves in the head of each cylinders by means of annular pistous attached to the bottom of the main trunk pistons. At the after end of the engine ie a two-stage compressor for supplying air for oil injection and for starting purposes. Re- vorsing is effooted by a hand shaft to alter the timing of the wheel, which first turns the can
