A VERY interesting matter is stated to be ar the moment receiving the attention of the pulice. A few weeks ago a foreigner purchased a motorcar, but, it seems, neglected ib procure the necessary licepse. He ran the car for some time when he had the misfortune to run into a native policeman who took the number of the car and reported the matter to the station. On investigation being made it was found that the car was unlicensed, and pro- ceedings are now being taken against the owner. But for this slight mishap the gentle. man might still be driving license free if he had a mind to.-Shanghel Mercury.

THE skeletons of seventeen persons were, dis covered on the 24th ult, at Nagasakl in the ground at Hokaura-machi on which the new Kencho is to be built.

The spot where that remains were found was formerly the site of druggist's store, which (says the Nagasaki Pro has just been demolished and was occupied for forty years by Mr. Abe Kyutaro. it is stated that identification of the remaion is impossible now, but the police are making every possible inquiry into the matter, and Mr. Abe is being examined.
