JAPANESE STOWAWAYS.
After living in biding for two weeks on board the Japanese steamship Shinano Maru, while the vessel was en route to this part from the Orient, and after making their escape from the vessel unnoticed, swimming several hundred fest to shore, the Japanese stowaways were caught when they were within a low feet of freedom, by Herbert Conover, an immigration watchman employed at the Great Northern dicks, yesterday morning, reports the Secre Post of 29th ult. Yanska Sezi and Iko Sakitaro were the two stowaways. They had come over on the Skinane with the 'intention of slipping past the guard of the immigration officers and antering this country unlawfully...
The men caught yesterday were formerly employed on the as Skinang coal passers and have made several attempts before to enter this country, always 10, be caught by the im migration officers. Had it not been for the alaripes of Watchman Conover early yester day morning when he discovered, them crawl- ing under the dock, they would have succeeded Most of the passengers brought over on the
brea admitted to land in this country. The slip was thoroughly searched for stowaways when she arrived base and none were to be found. The first intimation to the immigration officers that there were stowaways aboard was yesterday when Conover caught the two just as they were about to enter this country.
