Mr. F. J. Earl writes to the Manila Gable news on 2 th ult :-The Denver and Cleveland arrived at Singapore on 24th and will sail on. 27th idem, for Manila, where they will ar ie on the and of August. Immediately upon their arrival in Manila bảy the Cincinn ii will make exchange of servants, Chinese for coloured, and

·will then sail for San Francisco via Yokohama and Honolulu.,

The Cincinnati will not take coal on deck in addition to her bunker capacity as in the intention of the Raleigh, as is will not be necessary. When the Ciurmati, together with the Kentucky, Wisconsin, Oregon, New Or leans, Albany and Raleigh made the run from Yokohama to Honolulu in the fall of 193, the Cincinnati 100 one hundred tons of coal on deck in bags in addition to her full bunkers, and at the end of the run still bad 235 tons on board From data obtained from the several vessels of the fleet it was found that the Cincinnati burned, by far, loss coal than the orbers comparatively,

While in Shanghai, upon the receipt of the homeward bound aiders of the L'incinnufi, the crew lost no time in ordering a homeward bound pennant. It was the wish of all to have it of greater length than any previous ones leaving this Station, and, at the Raleigh would ↑ be purchasing hers also, we wished to outdo our sister-ship in this matter as on former occasions. Accordingly, we at first ordered a 60-foot pennant. The Raleigh, learning from the manufacturer, of our pennant the length of same, dec ded upsa foz, feet. This was what "we were fully expecting and were waiting for and so informed the tailor to make ours 610 'feet long and say nothing of the change to the
