The Indo-China Stoam Navigation. Co.'s 8.8, Loksang, on a voyage from Shanghai (which she left on the 18th inst.) to Chefoo and Newchwang,

This was a suminons heard at the Police Court this afternoon, before Mr. F. A, Harc- laud, in which Mansa Singh, formerly watch- mau to Messrs. A. S. Watson and Company, issued a summons against that firm, in that they, on March 28 last, did wrongfully and Mr. J. H. Gardier, in the office of Mr. O. D. wilfully determined his contract of service. Mr. Gardiner, in outlining the case, said that the complainant was a watchman employed in the defendunt firm. On March 28th, for no reason whatever, they dismissed the complain- ant without a month's notice or compensation.

CAPTAIN Willis, of the 5.9. Nam Yong, which arrived at Singapore on the 17th inst., from Hongkong via Hoihow, reports having passed à French steamer ashore on the S. E. Reef of Pulau Canton off Tourant Bay. The Wam Yong had on board 223 Chinese deck passengers, and there was a case of small-pox, amongst them. The ship was quarantined, and the pas sengers were landed at St. John's. The captain thinks that the steamer ashore is a transport.
