The medium wave trans- mitting mast at Golden Hill was struck on several occasions by lightning and damage occurred. Due to the lightning the control and modulation lines to the station were also affected and reliance had to be placed completely at certain times on FM links. Although damage occurred and the transmitters went off the air for brief periods on several occasions little broadcast time was lost. Interruptions to both AM services throughout the year totalled 2 hours 56 minutes.
