70. The establishment of staff on 31st March, 1973 was 183 and the Cable and Wireless engineering staff establishment on the same date was 87.

71. The 9th General Assembly of the Asian Broadcasting Union was held in Tehran, Iran, from 2nd to 14th October, 1972. Delegates from Radio Hong Kong included Mr. J. B. HAWTHORNE, Mr. T. A. BIRCH and Mr. R. A. WINYARD, Chief Engineer. Following this, Mr. BIRCH proceeded to Nairobi, Kenya, to attend the Commonwealth Broadcasting Conference held from 17th to 27th October, 1972. Mr. WONG Wah-kay, Programme Officer (Television) attended a Seminar on Programmes for Young People sponsored by the Asian Broad- casting Union, in September 1972 in Tehran.

72. Courses of instruction were awarded to Mr. YEUNG Sui-sang, Programme Officer, and Mr. WONG Chee-keung, Assistant Programme Officer, with the British Broadcasting Corporation in the United Kingdom for Radio Production Courses and attachments in September 1972 and February 1973 respectively. Miss CHEUNG Man-yee, Pro- gramme Officer (Television) also attended a BBC Television Production Course with attachment in November 1972.

73. On 31st March, 1973, the actual strength of staff numbered 172, 73 being programme staff and the others being in the executive, clerical and other grades. There were vacancies for one Senior Pro- gramme Supervisor, 6 Programme Officers and 4 Assistant Programme Officers.
