Staff Training

8. Two Programme Assistants came completely new to broadcasting and two had not been previously engaged in programme production and presentation. During the year, technical training was given, in the form of three lectures by engineers of Cable and Wireless Ltd., on "The Broadcasting Chain', 'Microphone Technique' and 'Recording and Re- production'.

Much of the training in broadcasting techniques had to be given by trained programme staff in addition to their normal duties and the new Chinese Programme Assistants were each given a four weeks training course on programme presentation, news-reading, studio balance, play production etc.

Although none of the new staff could be said to be fully trained by the end of the year, plans were being laid for more intensive training to be given in the forthcoming year, particularly in technical operations as applied to programme production.
