the Colony. The fulfillment of this duty is by no means an easy matter, but throughout the years since the war, the station has progressed slowly but surely towards that fulfillment. In the year under review, a substantial increase in the programme staff of the Chinese section has made possible the production of several programmes bringing people from many different walks of life together, contributing greatly to an understanding of how 'the other half' lives.
Radio Hong Kong does not attempt to follow slavishly patterns set by other broadcasting organizations in the world; it is convinced that there is in Hong Kong sufficient talent and enterprise to evolve a pattern of broadcasting that is purely Hong Kong’s.

3. The Controller of Broadcasting, Mr. Curtis L. Hindson left the Colony on August 12th to return to the United Kingdom. The Senior Programme Assistant in the English Section was appointed to act as Controller.
4. One English Programme Assistant left in the early part of the year to return to the United Kingdom and an officer from the Education Department filled the post.
5. A new post of Senior Programme Assistant was approved for the Chinese Section and was filled by the promo- tion of a Class 1 Programme Assistant.
6. Three new posts of Programme Assistant in the Chinese Section, approved in the previous year, were filled, two by promotions within the section, and one by a new recruit to broadcasting.
7. A General Office was established with an Executive Officer and two General Clerical Service Clerks to deal with administrative and accounting work previously undertaken by the Public Relations Office.
