206. In the Wan Chai district a 66" diameter sewer off Gloucester Road was laid with its outlet 1,200 feet out at sea. This is the second deep sea outfall to be commissioned in Hong Kong. It will go far to eliminate the nuisance of sewage discharge through seawalls. Investigations to determine the most suitable location of deep sea outfalls for the efficient dispersal and dilution of sewage were continued. Float tests were employed.
207. Intercepting sewers were constructed at Chatham and Salisbury Roads in the Kowloon South district, Kwun Tong Road in the Kwun Tong district and on the Island at Java Road and Electric Road, North Point.
208. Indents for the three screening plants for the districts of Wan Chai, Kowloon South and Kowloon East were prepared for submission to the Crown Agents.
209. Ejector pumps were installed at Shek Wu Hui and are operating satisfactorily. These 'Shone' pumps serve the newly developed portion of the town and are used to lift sewage to a small treatment plant prior to the discharge of resultant effluent into a nearby stream-course.
