63. Small-scale sketch plans were prepared to investigate the suitability of the site, but owing to the priority of other work, it was not possible to proceed with the planning of the individual buildings.
64. New Tsan Yuk Hospital. The plans for this new eight-storey 200-bed maternity hospital were finalized by the Architect, Mr. Eric Cumine, A.A.DIP., F.R.I.B.A. and construction commenced in November.
65. The accommodation provided is as follows:
Lower ground floor - dispensary and waiting room, barrack accommodation for 88 amahs and 8 watchmen and boys, boiler rooms, and air-conditioning plant room.
Ground floor - public waiting hall, examining hall for 10 doctors, X-ray department with dark room and examination room, blood bank and laboratory, general offices including matron and doctors' offices, library, and lecture room.
1st floor - 26-bed postnatal and 26-bed antenatal wards with ancillary rooms, premature nursery, and operating suite with two operating theatres.
2nd & 3rd floors - each with two 26-bed maternity wards and ancillary rooms, labour ward, and 4 delivery rooms.
4th floor - 12 single-bed and 12 double-bed wards and ancillary rooms, labour ward, and delivery rooms.
5th floor - living quarters for 72 student midwives, with common room, dining room, and lecture room.
6th floor - living accommodation for 23 midwives, 4 nurses, 2 sisters, 6 students, and 6 doctors.
7th floor - main hospital kitchens and stores, 2 flats consisting of living room, bedroom, and bathroom, together with hospital laundry and linen store.
