Dental Clinic with 8 treatment rooms, laboratory and offices. Working drawings were nearing completion by the end of the year.
42. New Mental Hospital. Preliminary sketch plans were prepared for a hospital on a site near Aberdeen but as this site was found to be inadequate an alternative location in the New Territories was under investigation at the end of the year.
43. Tsan Yuk Hospital. Although the existing Tsan Yuk Maternity Hospital is in good structural condition, it is too small for present day requirements and it is impossible to increase the accommodation on the present site. It is therefore to be re-built on a site in Sai Ying Pun, and the new hospital will provide for 200 beds with staff quarters. Mr. Eric Cumine, A.A.Dip., F.R.I.B.A., was appointed architect and by the end of the year under review considerable progress had been made on the working drawings.
44. Sisters' Quarters-Queen Mary Hospital. Messrs. Palmer and Turner were appointed architects and instructed to prepare sketch plans and estimates for approval.
45. Social Service Centre-King George V Memorial Park-Hong Kong. In order to clear the site for the new Tsan Yuk Hospital it will be necessary to demolish the existing Social Services Centre and to provide alternative accommodation. It has been decided, therefore, to erect a building within King George V Memorial Park, for immediate use as a Social Services Centre, but so planned that it may be economically converted at a later date into a Club House and Pavilion for boys and girls using the Park. Mr. Eric Cumine, A.A.Dip., F.R.I.B.A., was appointed architect and working drawings were in preparation at the end of the year.
46. Maternal and Child Health Centre, Chaiwan. To serve the needs of the Chaiwan Squatter Re-settlement area, an existing transit shed was converted into a Maternal and Child Health Centre, under the auspices of the World Health Organization. The accommodation provides a waiting room, equipped for film
