88. The Direction Finder-this is installed in two new launches (see para. 189). Nine inspectors were instructed in the use of this equipment. In future this will be included in the syllabus for the Special Navigation Certi- ficate.
89. Wireless Telegraphy-8 constables attended the course and passed the Post Master General's examination. Ten were still under training at the end of the year.
90. Recruits-38 recruit constables attended the initial training course. 91. Apart from Radar Courses, which are held at the Technical College, all Marine training is conducted by Police instructors found from the Marine Division. The Technical College provides facilities for the two senior navigation courses. All candidates for navigation and mechanical certificates are examined at the Marine Department. Courses of training for launch mechanics are now in the planning stage. In the coming year it is hoped that some Police candidates will receive training at the new Government Marine Training School and that gradually this unit will undertake all training for navigation and mechani- cal qualifications.

92. 19 junior officers attended courses of instruction in the United Kingdom (Details are at Appendix 14).
THE POLICE TRAINING CONTINGENT-INTERNAL SECURITY TRAINING
93. The Police Training Contingent (P.T.C.) undertakes the training of all ranks up to and including Assistant Superintendent in internal security duties, provides a reserve of manpower on immediate call for emergency duty at any time and provides leadership training for the junior officer and N.C.O.
94. Following the change made in the previous year it was found that the six week company course did not permit sufficient time for practical exercises.
