KMB has introduced a number of new bus routes in order

to cater for the increasing needs of new towns.

九巴開辦多條新巴士路線以應付新市鎮之需要。

on the MTR along the Nathan Road Corridor. Since the opening of the Tate's Cairn Tunnel in June 1991 four new bus routes provide a direct and speedy service between Shatin and East Kowloon, via the

tunnel.

In 1991 six new routes, using single-deck coaches, were introduced for areas with a low volume of passengers. Out of the 316 routes operating at the end of the year 1991, there were 40 routes using only air-conditioned buses, while 18 routes use both air- conditioned and non-air-conditioned buses. At the end of 1991 KMB had a total of 3,027 buses (1990: 2,886). This total included 2,677 normal double-deck buses, 116 air-conditioned double-deck buses, 3 normal single-deck buses, and 231 air-conditioned

single-deck buses and coaches. The total carrying

capacity of KMB buses at the end of 1991 was 366,851 (1990: 352,464).

隧道於一九九一年六月通車以來,已有四條新巴士 路線行經該隧道,提供貫通沙田及東九龍之直接及 快速巴士服務。

一九九一年,本公司為乘客量較低之地區開辦六條 使用單層豪華巴士之新路線。在本公司於一九九一 年底經營之三百一十六條路線當中,四十條路線使 用冷氣巴士,另有十八條路線同時使用冷氣及普通 巴士。一九九一年年底,本公司共有三千零二十七 部巴士( 一九九零年為二千八百八十六部 )。其中 包括二千六百七十七部普通雙層巴士,一百一十六 部冷氣雙層巴士,三部普通單層巴士,以及二百三 十一部冷氣單層巴士及豪華巴士。本公司巴士於一 九九一年底之巴士總載客量為三十六萬六千八百五 十一人次(一九九零年為三十五萬二千四百六十四 人次)。
