966 million) rode on the Company's buses, which is a daily average of 2.65 million passengers (1990:2.65 million). This represents an increase of passengers of 0.2% as compared with last year. The actual distance travelled by the Company's buses totalled 203 million kilometres (1990: 196 million

kilometres). The increase in distance travelled is primarily due to the increased number of buses in the fleet.

NEW ROUTES AND NEW BUSES

In 1991, a total of 39 new bus routes were inaugurated, mainly to meet the growing demand in the new developments. Seven new morning special routes to Tsim Sha Tsui from Tuen Mun, Tseung Kwan O and Shatin were introduced. In addition,

the 300 series of air-conditioned buses, with 7 routes, was introduced to provide passengers with a

morning peak hour alternative to the congestion
