18. Two two-week Supervisory Management Courses, planned and conducted in association with the Government Training Division, were attended by a total of 29 officers of the Department.
Temporary Staff for Christmas
19. A force of 60 temporary clerks and 120 casual labourers was engaged to assist in the handling of mail during the Christmas pressure period.

20. Revenue collected
Department amounted to $121,286,602.92, an increase of 17.8% over the preceding year and more than three times the amount collected 10 years ago. The sale of duty stamps amounting to $5,332,797.90 was 6.2% more than in 1967-68 and postage stamps utilized for fees on Certificates of Origin totalling $5,128,003.00, 7.7% more.
21. Expenditure during the year amounted to $71,191,111.37. The increase over 1967-68 was in part due to salary awards effective from the 1st April, 1968 and otherwise principally to increased airmail con- veyance payments and a carry-over of mail conveyance accounts from the previous year.
22. Payments made for telephone services provided for Government Departments amounted to $3,199,249.75, some $10,000 more than in the preceding year. However this year saw the abolition of local toll charges which reduced costs by a nett $177,536.
23. The turnover in Post Office business inclusive of postal remit tance services exceeded 255 millions of dollars.
Telecommunication Licences
24. Licensing revenue of all types totalled $2,392,196.00. The increase of more than one million was chiefly accounted for by approximately 40,000 broadcast television licences.
