26. 99,769 First Day Covers were sold for the Harbour-craft Pictorial Issue, 86,664 for the Human Rights Year and 102,575 for the Lunar New Year.

27. The issue depicting craft commonly seen afloat in Hong Kong's harbour was to have been made the previous year but owing to shipping delays attributable to industrial disputes in Britain it had to be post- poned.

28. On the 25th September, 1968 two multicolour stamps in a larger format were issued in replacement of the monochrome ‘Annigoni Portrait' stamps of the 65¢ and $1 definitive denominations. The 65¢ depicts the Bauhinia Blakeana and the $1 stamp the Colony Armorial Bearings. 99,231 First Day Covers were sold for this issue exclusive of a quantity sent to the Crown Agents for Oversea Governments and Administrations who for the first time undertook to sell Hong Kong First Day Covers from their Bureau.

Christmas Aerogrammes

29. For sale in December a special Christmas aerogramme was produced by the Government Printer from a design prepared from an original painting by a local artist, Mr. Michael GRIFFITH. Approxi- mately 500,000 were printed and 330,000 sold. The residue will be available for Christmas 1969 along with a newly designed Christmas aerogramme.

Private Boxes

30. Demand for private boxes in excess of the available supply at certain offices presented a number of problems although there are boxes available unlet in certain others. The income from rentals of private boxes and bag services rose to $633,285.39, an increase of $53,667.35.

Remittance Services

31. There were variations in the totals of remittances by the Money Order and Postal Order services compared with 1967-68. Commission earned on the remittance services was $229,512.11, an increase of $12,071.75.
