On the 12th at 11.55 a.- "The barometer has risen slightly on the S. coast of China and over E. Japan, and fallen slightly to moderately over Luzon and the Loochoos. Pressure is low apparently, over the Pacific to the N.E. of Luzon. It is highest to the E. of Japan, and exceeds the normal by from 0.05 to 0.15 inch over the China coast and Japan. In Luzon it is about 0.05 inch below the average. Moderate to fresh N.E. winds are likely to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and moderate S.E. to N.E. winds along the Northern shores of the China Sea." Forecast:

Forecast:-"E. winds, moderate; showery to fair."

On the 13th at 11.50 a.- "The barometer has fallen at all stations, moderately to considerably over Formosa and the Loochoos, and slightly on the S. coast of China and in Luzon. The depression over the Pacific is probably a typhoon. It appears to be situated to the S.E. of the Loochoos and to be moving towards N.W. at present. Pressure is still high

to the S.E. of Japan, while it has fallen to the normal ou the China coast. It is below the average by 0.1 inch in Manila, and by slightly above that amount over the Loochoos. Fresh N. and N.E. winds are likely to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and moderate N.E. to N.W. winds over the N. part of the China Sea.” Forecast: N.E. or variable winds,

light or moderate; fair."

On the 14th at 12.05 P.- The barometer has fallen moderately over S. Japan and N. China. The depression lying to the S.E. of the Loochoos yesterday, appears to have recurved to the N.E. Pressure, however, has not increased over Luzon, and it is still in defect of the normal by about 0.1 inch in Manila. Probably a low pressure trough is lying over the N. part of the China Sea. Light to moderate variable winds are indicated in the Formosa Channel, and the N. part of the China Sea." Forecast :- E. or variable winds, light or moderate; showery."

On the 15th at 11.55 a- "The barometer has risen slightly at all stations, except at those in N. China. Pressure is high to the N.E. of Japan, and low over W. Japan. Gradients are slight on the China coast, and light variable winds may be expected in the Formosa Channel, and light E. and S.E. winds along the Northern shores of the China Sea.” Forecast :-- E. and S.E. winds, light; showery."

On the 18th at 11.55 a.-"The barometer continues to fall slowly in the Philippines, and a slight fall has taken place also over the China coast and Formosa. Pressure is near the normal on the China coast, and about 0.1 inch below its average height in Manila. Pressure is probably low over the Pacific to the E. or N.E. of Luzon. Light or moderate E. and N.E. winds are likely to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and along the Northern shores of the China Sea." The Japanese returns are lacking this morning. Forecast:-“ E. to N.E. winds, light; fine."

On the 19th at 11.55 a.- “The barometer has fallen slightly at all stations. Pressure is highest and a little above the normal over S. Japan. It is in defect elsewhere, particularly over Luzon, where the departure from the average is about 0.15 inch. The trough of low pressure appears to be lying in about 18° Lat., and to extend across the China Sea and the Pacific to the E. of Luzon. Moderate N.E. winds are likely to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and along the Northern shores of the China Sea." Forecast:-"N.E. winds, moderate; fair to showery."

On the 20th at 11.55 a.- "The barometer continues to fall slowly over Luzon, Formosa and the Loochoos. It has risen slightly to moderately over N. China and N.E. Japan. The low pressure trough is still lying over the N. part of the China Sea and the Pacific to the E. of N. Luzon. Probably a depression exists in it to the N.E. of Luzon. Pressure is high, about 0.1 inch in excess of the normal, over S.E. Japan, and below the average by about 0.2 inch in Manila, and by 0.1 inch over S. Formosa and the Loochoos. Moderate or fresh N.E. winds may be expected in the Formosa Channel, and light or moderate N.E. winds along the Northern shores of the China Sea." Forecast :--- N.E. winds, light or moderate; fair."

On the 21st at 11.55 a. "The barometer continues to fall slowly over Luzon, S. China, Formosa and the Loochoos. It has risen considerably in N.E. Japan. The depression is very much elongated. It may contain two centres, one to the S.E. of the Loochoos, the other in the neighbourhood of the Balingtang Channel. Pressure is high, above the normal by 0.1 inch and upwards, over E. Japan, while it is below the average by between 0.2 and 0.3 inch in Luzon, and by about 0.15 over Formosa and the Loochoos. Fresh to strong N. and N.E. winds are indicated in the Formosa Channel, and the N.E. part of the China Sea." Forecast" N.E. to N. winds, moderate or fresh; fair."
