At 11.55 a.- The depression, moving Northwards, entered the const near Hongkong last night. The barometer has risen moderately in Hongkong, and a slight fall has occurred along the China coast to the Northward. Pressure is still high over the Pacific to the E. of Japan, but a slight decrease has taken place over the Philippines. Fresh S. monsoon may be expected in the Formosa Channel and the N. part of the China Sea.” Forecast :----" SW. winds, fresh to moderate: showery.”
On the 6th at 11.55 a.- The barometer has risen slightly to moderately over China and Japan, and fallen slightly over the Philippines. Pressure appears to be low over the Pacific to the E. of Luzon, and a high pressure area is lying to the E. of Japan. Moderate S.E. and E. winds may be expected in the Formosa Channel and the N. part of the China Sea." Forecast :- "S. E. to E. winds, light to moderate; fair."
On the 7th at 1155 a--" The barometer has risen slightly over N. China. W. Japan and the Loochoos, and fallen moderately over N. Luzen, A depression apparently of slight intensity, having crossed Luzon, is now situated off the NW, coast of that island. Pressure remains high over the Pacific to the E. of Japan. Moderate E. winds are expected to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and freshening E. and N.E. winds along the Northern shores of the China Sea." Forecast :-" E. to N,E. winds, moderate to fresh : fine at first, showery later."

On the 8th at 3.15 a.--Orders issued to hoist Red Cone point downwards and Drum.
At 10.40 a.—Orders issued to hoist the Black Cone point downwards.
At 11.35 a.- "The barometer has fallen moderately to slightly over the S. coast of China and Formosa respectively. The lepression has probably become deeper. It
to be situated to the S.S.E. of Hongkong in about 18 Lat., and to be moving towards W.N.W. Pressure has given way over Japan, but remains high over the Pacific to the E. of the Loochoos. Fresh E. to S. E. winds are likely to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and strong cyclonic winds to gales over the N. part of the China Sea.”
Forecast: “N.E. to E. winds, strong, possibly a gale; squally, showery,"
On the 9th at 6.15 a.-Orders issued to hoist the Black Cone point downwards and Ball, At 12.10 p. The barometer has fluctuated irregularly in Hongkong, and has fallen slightly on the whole. The depression is probably situated to the S.S.W. of Hongkong in about 19 Lat. It appears to be moving towards N.W. Pressure remains high over the Pacific to the E. of the Loochoos, and a depression is shown this morning over N. China. Moderate S.E. winds are expected to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and strong cyclonic winds and gales over the N. part of the China Sea. Forecast :--" E. to S.E. winds, moderate or fresh gale; squally, showery."
On the 10th at 10.45 a.--· · Signals lowered.
At 11.50 a. The barometer is now ingined to rise in Hongkong and a slight to moderate increase of pressure has taken place along the China coast to the Northward of the Colony, and in Japan. The depression which appears to have gradually deepened during the past two days, has probably reached the neighbourhood of Hainan Straits as a typhoon. Pressure remains high over the Pacific to the E. of the Loochoos. Moderate S.E. winds are expected to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and the weather will improve over the N. part of the China Sea, except in the Gulf of Tongking." Forecast :-"S.E. winds, gradually decreasing in force: squally, showery."
On the 11th at 11.50 a." The typhoon probably passed near Haiphong during the night. The barometer has risen to the normal in Hongkong, and a slight to moderate rise of the mercury has taken place over China and Japan generally. Pressure is high over the Pacific to the S. of Japan. It exceeds the normal by 0.1 inch and upwards over the E. coast of China, the Loochoos and S. Japan. Moderate E. winds are likely to prevail in the For- mosa Channel, and fresh to moderate S.E. winds over the N. part of the China Sea.” cast:-S.E. to E. winds, moderate; weather gradually improving."
