Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, William Arthur White, Esquire, a Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Her Majesty's Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipo- tentiary to His Royal Highness the Prince of Roumania;

And His Royal Highness the Prince of Rou- mania, M. Basile Boeresco, his Minister Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Grand Cross of his Order of the Star of Roumania, Grand Cross of the Order of the Iron Crown, of the Order of the Crown of Italy, &c.;

Who, after having communicated to each other their respective full powers, found in good and due form, have agreed upon and concluded the following Articles:

ARTICLE I.

There shall be reciprocally full and entire liberty of commerce and navigation between the subjects of the two High Contracting Parties, who shall be free to establish themselves in each other's territory.

British subjects in Roumania and Roumanian subjects in the territories (including the Colonies and foreign Possessions) of Her Britannic Majesty shall, in conforming to the laws of the country, be at liberty reciprocally to enter, travel, or reside in any part of the respective territories, to carry on their business; and shall enjoy, in this respect, the same protection of their persons and property as that enjoyed by native subjects, or by the subjects of any third country the most favoured in these respects.

They shall be at liberty to exercise their commerce, and to trade, both by wholesale and by retail, in the whole extent of both territories, without being subjected, as to their persons or property, or with regard to the exercise of their trade or business, to any taxes, whether general or local, or to any imposts or conditions of any kind other or more onerous than those which are or may be imposed upon native subjects or the subjects of any third country the most favoured in these respects.

The rights, privileges, exemptions, and immu- nities of any kind enjoyed with respect to trade and commerce by the subjects of the High Contracting Parties, or which are or may be hereafter conceded to the subjects of any third Power, shall be extended to the subjects of the

other.

British subjects in Roumania and Roumanian subjects in the territories (including the Colonies and foreign Possessions) of Her Britannic Majesty shall enjoy full liberty to acquire, possess, and dispose of, in the whole extent of the respective territories, every description of property which the laws of the country permit or may permit the subjects of any foreign nation to acquire or to hold.

They shall be at liberty to acquire and dispose of such property, whether by sale, donation,

Si Alteta Sa Regală Domnul României pé Domnul Vasile Boerescu, Ministrul sẽŭ Secretar de Stat la Departamentul Afacerilor Streine, Mare Cruce al Ordinelor Stéua României, Coróna de Fer, Coróna Italiei, etc., etc.

Care, dupe ce 'si aŭ comunicat deplinele lor puteri, găsite în bună si cavenită formă, s'aŭ învoit si aŭ formulat Articolele următóre:

ARTICOLUL I.

Va fi deplină si întrégă libertate de comerciù si navigatiune, intr'un mod reciproc, între supusii celor douě Inalte Părti Contractante, cari vor putea, si unii si altii să se stabiléscă liber pe teritoriul celei-l-alte těri.

Supusii Britanică în România si Supusii Română în teritoriile (coprindêndu-se si Coloniile si Possessiunile streine) Majestātei Séle Britanice vor putea reciproc, conformându-se legilor Terei, să intre, să călătoréscă, să petrécă în totă liberta- tea, în ori-ce parte ar fi a teritorieloră respective, pentru a îngriji de afacerile lor; ei se vor bucura in acest scop, pentru persónele si bunurile lor, de aceasi protectiune ca si nationali séŭ ca supusii ori cărei alte a treia tĕri cea mai favorisată în acéstă privintă.

Ei vor putea să să exercitede industria, să facă comerciù, atât cu ridicata cât si în detaliŭ,‣ in tótă întinderea celor douě teritorii, fără a fi supusă fie în ceea ce privesce persoanele séŭ bunurile lor, fie în ceea ce privesce exercitarea comerciului séŭ industriei, la taxe generale séŭ locale, la imposite séŭ obligatiuni de ori-ce natură ar fi, altele séŭ mai oneróse de cât acele cari sunt séu vor putea fi stabilite asupra nattionalilor séŭ supusilor ori-cărei, a treia tĕri cea mai favorisată în acéstă privinta.

Drepturile, privilegiurile, exemptiunele,, immu- nitătile si ori-ce favori de cari s'ar bucura, in materie de comerciŭ séŭ industrie, supusii Inalte- lor Părti Contractante, séŭ care sunt si vor fi acordate supusilor unei a treia Puteri, vor fi întinse supusilor celeĭ-alte.

Supusii Britanică în România si supusii Români în Teritoriile (coprindêndu-se Coloniile si Posesiu- nile streine) Majestateĭ Séle Britanice, vor avea deplina libertate de a dobêndi, de a poseda, de a aliena, în tótă întinderea teritoriilor respective, ori-ce fel de proprietate pe care legile tereĭ permit séu vor permite supusilor ori-cărei alte natiuni strěine de a dobêndi séu de a poseda.

Ei vor putea să dobêndéscă acéstă proprietate si să dispute de dênsa prin vindere, donatiune,
