REGULATIONS.

AMENDMENT OR RESCISSION.

Table E of the Tables made by virtue of the Mer- chant Shipping Ordinance, 1899. (No. 10 of 1899),— continued.

having regard to the type and stability of the vessel, the number of passengers should be reduced, then his certificate shall state the number, as determined by him, which the vessel is fit to carry;

(d) that all openings in the upper deck are efficiently protected by coamings or casings and are capable of being closed water- tight;

(c) that suitable awnings are pro-

vided;

(f) that all seats are properly

secured in position;

(g) that the vessel has been sub- jected to a stability test and is ballasted to the satisfaction of the Government Marine Sur-

veyor;

(h) that the vessel is equipped with life-saving appliances in accordance with the Merchant Shipping (Life-Saving Appli- ances) Regulations, 1935;

that the vessel is properly fitted with navigation lights and the means for making sound signals;

(i) that the vessel is properly found with anchors and cables;

(k) that the vessel is provided

with fire-extinguishing appli ances in accordance with the Merchant Shipping (Fire Ap- pliances) Regulations, 1935;

(1) the time for which the said hull and equipment will be sufficient;

(m) that the machinery of the vessel is sufficient for the service intended and is in good condition;

(n) that the safety valve is such, and in such condition, as to satisfy the requirements of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 1899;

(0) the limit of the weight to be placed on the safety valve; (p) the time for which such machinery will be sufficient, and

(q) that the crew is sufficient for the requirements of the vessel and both the master and the engineer are in possession of the appropriate local certificates of
