Thank you for your letter of 8 October. I am sorry that I did not send you an interim reply earlier.

I am conscious that you are anxious to make progress on the arrangements for the transfer of UK related functions and records from HKID to the future British Consulate General. I have been in touch with both NTCD and MVD over this and hope to be in a position to let you have a substantive reply by next month. At the same time I hope to have the answers to your earlier letter of 8 July about the segregation of your records. The delay here has been caused by certain problems which needed to be resolved by MVD.
